Minister takes part in school’s golden jubilee fete

Funds for junior college building promised

More budgetary allocation for education

Kakinada: The State Government has drawn up plans to offer computer education in 5,000 more schools in addition to 1,000 schools where the facility is currently available.

This will expose the children to the basics of computers which are assuming greater importance every day, according to Minister for School Education C. Damodar Rajanarasimha.

Addressing participants in the golden jubilee celebrations of Zilla Parishad High School at Velangi in Karapa mandal on Thursday, Mr. Rajanarasimha said it was decided to provide computer education in as many schools as possible and efforts were on to fulfil the endeavour.

This was in tune with the government’s policy to integrate computer education into the mainstream, the Minister said.

The Minister promised sanction of Rs. 20 lakhs for construction of a new building for the government junior college in Velangi conceding requests by the officials concerned and students.

Priority

Minister for Social Welfare Pilli Subhas Chandra Bose said the Central Government had allocated 18.25 per cent of the previous year’s budget to education and it was a proof of the greater importance attached to the sector by both Central and State governments.

Minister for BC Welfare Mukhesh Goud, Amalapuram MP G.V. Harsha Kumar, Tallarevu MLA Dommeti Venkateswarulu and others were present.
