Clean chit to State in Raghuram Cements issue

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Justice P. Ramakrishnam Raju Commission of Inquiry has held that the government has not committed any irregularity in allotment of land and leasing out of mines to Raghuram Cement Company in Kadapa district.

Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, son of Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, is a director of the company. It may be recalled that in the wake an Opposition outcry in the Assembly against the favours allegedly extended to the company, the government appointed the commission to verify the truth in the charge.

The commission, which submitted its final report to the government on August 29, stated that the allotment of land and leasing out of the mines were allowed “as per the set rules and procedures” and no deviation was committed. The Cabinet which met here on Friday, accepted the report in to to and decided to table it in the Assembly during the budget session.
