Father among 7 booked for bid to kill girl

Sirsa: The police have booked seven, persons including the father, the grand-father, and an uncle of a daughter under sections 364, 307 and 120B of the IPC for allegedly hatching a conspiracy to kill his daughter for saving the ‘honour’ of the family.

Police said the complainant Poonam, a 10+2 student of government S.S. School of village Bani of the district, eloped with Mukhram a Dalit youth of the same village on September 18.

She was recovered by the police about10 days later and handed over to her parents who hatched a conspiracy to get rid of her.

According to their plot on Wednesday night they brought Poonam in a jeep to the Rajasthan Canal and at a secluded spot pushed her into the canal.

But as further life was pre-destined, she somehow swam to safety and sought shelter at a Dhani falling under village Kariwala police post.

The police immediately inspected the spot and on the basis of a complaint filed by her booked her father Parbhuram, Purshotam and Satbir etc. allegedly for abducting and making an attempt to kill.
