CPI(M) hails Cabinet nod for delimitation
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: The CPI(M) has expressed satisfaction at the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs giving its approval to the proposals of the Delimitation Commission that went into reorganisation of the existing constituencies.
The State committee of the party, which met here on Friday, urged the Centre not to postpone implementation of the proposals under some pretext or the other. The next general elections should be held as per delimitation. The committee also felt that problems that might arise in implementation should be resolved without hindering the process, one of its members, Y. Venkateswara Rao, said.
He said the meeting, presided over by State secretary B.V. Raghavulu, was convened to discuss preparations for the 22nd State conference of party at Pragatinagar near Kukatpally from February 8 to 10.
Party general secretary Prakash Karat and Polit Bureau members Sitaram Yechury and Brinda Karat would be present on all three days of the conference. It would discuss struggles taken up by the party against anti-people policies of the State government in the last three years and chalk-out future programmes. Rajya Sabha member P. Madhu and MLAs Mohd. Ghafoor and Paturi Ramaiah were present.
