Rs 19 crore for Punjab irrigation

Chandigarh: Nabard has sanctioned Rs 19 crore for micro-irrigation Projects in Punjab under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund. The project envisages to bring 11,180 hectares under drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation systems and establish 240 each of 0.40 hectares size demonstration plots, an official release issued here on Friday said. The project includes construction of 300 farm tanks, which would benefit about 15,00 hectares in 20 districts of the State.

It would be implemented by Department of Soil and Water Conservation by March 31, 2010.
