KOCHI: For years, we were given to understand that the CBSE was concentrating only on academics. That its students did not have time for anything else. But Ashok Ganguly, the CBSE Board Chairman, made an interesting remark during the opening ceremony of the 12th CBSE National athletic championship here on Friday evening. “Many think that only if you study well you will succeed in life. That myth has to be removed,” said Mr Ganguly. “If you do well in sport, you can do very well in life too. Of course, you should study a little too, to satisfy your parents.” Academics play only a small part in the success of your career, he added. He cited the cases of Sinimol Paulose and Indian cricketer Sreesanth to support his advice. Very refreshing to hear that! — Principal Correspondent
