Two held for making threat calls

NEW DELHI: A former employee of an industrialist and his accomplice have been arrested at Samaipur Badli here on charges of making threatening calls to the businessman to extort money.

According to the police, Nitin Chauhan, who worked at a cable factory owned by Manohar Lal Bansal, was in dire need of over Rs. 4 lakh to pay back debt and hatched a plan to extort money from his employer. As per the plan, he left the job and a fortnight later mailed a letter to Manohar Lal and also made threatening calls to him seeking Rs.5 lakh. Two of his friends, Ashok Kumar and Kamal Aggarwal, also helped him in his plan, the police said. The calls were traced and Nitin and Kamal were arrested.
