Robbery bid foiled

NEW DELHI: The East Delhi police on Friday claimed to have foiled a robbery attempt with the arrest of five armed men at Khichripur here.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team cordoned off a deserted room in Safeda Park on Wednesday and arrested five men, later identified as Pappu, Jogender, Sonu, Dabbu and Ravi. The five were allegedly planning to commit robbery at a petrol pump in Ghazipur. A knife and an iron rod have allegedly been seized from their possession. Pappu, Jogender and Sonu are involved in several cases of knifing, the police said.
