Some relief for the Capital

Staff Reporter

Minimum temperature rises by one degree to settle at 3 degree

NEW DELHI: After braving the chill for the past many days, there was minor relief for Delhiites on Friday as the minimum temperature rose by one degree to settle at 3 degrees Celsius. Though the temperature recorded was four degrees below normal, the sun shining for most part of the day did help matters. The maximum temperature recorded on Friday was 20.2 degrees.

Meanwhile, the scene at the airport was not very different from Thursday as several domestic flights ran behind schedule due to low visibility conditions on Friday causing inconvenience to harried passengers.

The maximum humidity recorded on Friday was 91 per cent, while the minimum stood at 31 per cent.

A Meteorological Department official said: “High humidity levels like 91 per cent signifies presence of moisture in the air leading to possibility of fog in the Capital.”

The weatherman has forecast a mainly clear sky in the Capital on Saturday with shallow fog likely in the morning. The minimum temperature is likely to be around 4 degrees Celsius.

“The cold conditions in the Capital are likely to abate in another one or two days as the western disturbance is expected to turn active, causing a rise in temperatures,” said the weatherman.

The BBC website too has forecast warmer days in the Capital with the mercury taking considerable strides and settling between 10 degrees and 14 degrees during the coming four days.
