Rally for visually challenged held

VISAKHAPATNAM: To create public awareness on the World Literacy Day for the Blind, VUDA Vice-Chairman G.Venkatram Reddy flagged off a rally from the Collectorate Junction on Friday.
Organised by Vikasatarangini of Sri Tridandi Chinnajeer Srimannarayana Ramanjuja Swamy, 24 schools participated in it. The spirit of enthusiasm among the children was quite evident as they briskly walked from the Collectorate Office to Jagdamba Junction to Asilmetta Junction, Dondaparthy and finally reached the Venugopalaswamy temple at Akkayapalem.
A halt en route was made near the GVMC building. Children were provided buttermilk and caps during the rally.
Three schools for the visually challenged, Sunflower School, Kamala Nehru Municipal Girls High School, Omkara School for Deaf and Dumb, and other private schools participated.
Coordinators of Vikas Taringini M.S.S.R. Varma, K. Rangaraju and Secretary R. Satyanarayana participated.
