Mahila Samakhya flays rise in assaults on women

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Mahila Samakhya has expressed concern over the increasing attacks on girls and women and demanded deterrent action against those involved in such incidents.

In a statement issued here on Friday, Pasya Padma, president and three other leaders said, assaults, violent and fatal attacks against women had increased in 2007 to 19,000 from 17,000 in 2006.
