Anasuya is close to my heart: Bhoomika

VIJAYAWADA: Actor Bhoomika Chawla a.k.a Thakur is of the strong view that the present trend of stereotyped Telugu films spun around fights, songs and item numbers will take a backseat very soon and more ‘meaningful’ movies will hit the screens in the days to come.

Interacting with media persons on Friday over the success of her recent release ‘Anasuya’, in which she played the role of a television journalist, Bhoomika said more young directors and producers were entering the tinsel world with emphasis on good scripts.

“Small budget will be the order of the day in the near future, and there will be a better scope for performance,” she felt.

Sharing her thoughts about her role in the film, Bhoomika said the role was close to her heart, as it gave her an opportunity to exhibit her versatility in acting.

“This sort of role comes once in a life time. I’m thankful to Suresh Productions and film director Ravi Babu for their support and guidance in bringing the best out of me,” she said.

As an actor, she always faced a volley of questions from the media day in and day out.

“I was happy asking questions for a change,” she said with a giggle. Bhoomika said she always strove hard to break free of the previous images and feared to be branded as a stereotype actor.

Asked about her stakes in Bollywood, the Punjabi girl was rather diplomatic in maintaining that she had never turned her back on Bollywood and would be more than willing to take up an offer “if I get a good script.”

“I’m unable to learn many languages for various reasons. I am daughter of an army officer and I lived in various places in the country. Before I start learning Telugu, I get an offer for a Tamil film or a Hindi film,” she explained.
