Faux paus at hospital

VIZIANAGARAM: Change of new born baby girls at Gosha Hospital here on Friday generated heat on the functioning of employees.

It led to the termination of Dasu, an employee in the operation theatre of the hospital.

According to hospital Superintendent K. Krishna Kumari, two women -- Padmavathi of Dharmapuri and Santoshi of Jarajapupeta -- delivered baby girls simultaneously through caesarean operation. Diagnosing some complications in the baby of Ms. Padmavathi, the theatre employee was asked to call the attendants.

In a mistaken identity, attendants of Ms. Santoshi took the baby girl to a paediatrician in the next chamber where it died after surviving a few minutes. In the meantime, the baby delivered by Ms. Santoshi was handed over to Ms. Padmavathi and the blunder was noticed later.

The police decided to go for DNA test for identifying the original mother.
