BANGALORE: Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram will review the financial condition and implementation of various development schemes announced in the State budget in the last week of the month. Addressing reporters after a meeting of the executive committee here on Friday, Governor Rameshwar Thakur said Mr. Chidambaram would review the progress of various schemes during the last nine months of this fiscal. Budgetary allocations and expenditure under both plan and non-plan heads, and overall financial position of the State would be reviewed. If needed, he would issue directions to the officials on areas to be focussed in the remaining period of the financial year. As the State is under President’s Rule, the budget for 2008-09 would be presented in Parliament. Mr. Chidambaram had detailed discussion with the Governor on various issues during his visit to Bangalore on Saturday last. The Government has decided to hold a conference of deputy commissioners to assess the implementation of development works.
