Chandy flays attack on police station

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy has condemned the action of CPI(M) leaders who trespassed into the Kuttiyadi police station and freed an accused.

In a statement here on Thursday, Mr. Chandy said the accused was arrested in connection with a clash between the DYFI and the CPI activists two weeks ago.

He said that after the LDF came to power, incidents of party workers attacking police stations had been increasing.

The ruling CPI(M) was the common factor in all these incidents. The Kuttiyadi incident was nothing but a continuation of the DYFI attack on Pathanamthitta police station and the intervention of senior leaders belonging to the LDF, including Ministers, in getting their supporters released from police custody in Thiruvananthapuram.
