Traders hold demonstration

BERHAMPUR: Traders of old busstand area of the city held a day-long demonstration on Saturday demanding establishment of a permanent bench of the Orissa High Court in the city.

According to president of this traders’ association Bhimaraju Reddy, it was a show of solidarity to the agitation of lawyers of the Ganjam Bar Association, who are on strike since over a month for the same demand. The agitating lawyers of the Ganjam Bar Association led by its president Sudhansu Panda and its secretary Manoj Patnaik also participated in the demonstration of the traders. Later, a public meeting was conducted at old bus stand area, where speakers stressed the need for a High Court bench for South Orissa to be established in the city.

Earlier in the day the lawyers picketed in front of the district judge court in the city.
