‘Doctors, nurses, para-medicals from Kerala making a great impact in foreign nations’

Chief Justice recalls the special relation his family shares with Caritas Hospital


KOTTAYAM: The Chief Justice of India K.G. Balakrishnan has stressed the need to extend medical facilities to the poor and the needy.

Inaugurating the newly constructed Mar Mathew Makil Block of Caritas Hospital near here, Mr. Balakrishnan said the hospitals in both government and private sectors should ensure that the marginalised were brought under the healthcare net. He referred to the unique place Kerala had earned in the healthcare delivery system and said doctors, nurses and para-medical professionals from Kerala, with their unique background, were making a great impact in foreign nations. “Their work has been appreciated by professionals round the globe, especially by those from the U.S., the U.K. and Australia,” the Chief Justice said.

The Chief Justice also recalled the special relation he and his family shared with Caritas Hospital. Cyriac Joseph, Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court, was the guest of honour. Archbishop Kuriakose Kunnassery presided. Archbishop Mathew Moolekkat; Bishop Joseph Pandarassery; K. Suresh Kurup, MP; among other, spoke.
