ALAPPUZHA: The mystery surrounding a body that was found on the railway tracks near Thakazhi on Wednesday was solved on Saturday. According to the police, the body was first identified as that of Praveen Kumar, a native of Aluva. Kumar’s relatives had “identified” the body after being informed by the police on the basis of a telephone number found on the body. The family had even conducted the funeral the next day. However, with the original Kumar calling up his home on Thursday, just after his “funeral,” and returning home on Friday, the mystery over the body deepened. The police did not have to wait for long after flashing photographs of the body in the media. Relatives of Saju, 30, a native of Nedumangad in Thiruvananthapuram, reached the Ambalapuzha Police Station on Saturday and identified the body. The identification of Saju, who was a dealer in medicated oil and had been missing for more than a week, also solved the mystery of an unclaimed Ambassador car (KCT 8480) that was found near the Ambalapuzha temple on Thursday. The car, Saju’s relatives said, belonged to him. Investigation into the circumstances that led to his death are on.
