Children drowned

ALAPPUZHA: Two school students, eight-year-old Abhijith and 11-year-old Nithin, drowned in a temple pond at Kariyilakulangara, near Kayamkulam, on Saturday afternoon. According to police, the two had gone to the Kalarickal temple pond for an afternoon bath when they slipped and fell into the water. The bodies were retrieved after two hours.

Abhijith, son of Ashokan and Shailaja of Kalarickal House, was a third standard student of the M.G. Lower Primary School in Keerikad. Nithin, the son of Nayanan Pillai and Vasantha of Nayanam House, was an eighth standard student of the Ramapuram High School in the same area. The bodies were handed over to the relatives. — Staff Reporter
