Chandigarh drops the word “Dalit”

Chandigarh: Chandigarh administration on Saturday instructed all the departments, Boards and Corporations within its jurisdiction not to use the word “Dalit” as interchangeable with the word “Scheduled Castes”. Home Secretary Krishan Mohan said that as the word “Dalit” is neither defined under the Constitution nor under any law in force, it should not be used.
