Tributes paid to ex-MP

ANANTAPUR: Speakers at a meeting organised by the District Congress Committee paid rich tributes to former MP Anantha Venkata Reddy on the occasion of his eighth death anniversary. They hailed his efforts for the development of the district and garlanded his statue in front of the Government Medical College earlier.

Minister for Agriculture N. Raghuveera Reddy said the former MP had worked for development of irrigation, drinking water schemes and desertification prevention schemes.

A leader from his student days, he grew by representing the problems of the district to each and every dignitary who visited the district. He had participated in agitations for Srisailam Right Bank Canal and Penna Ahobilam Balancing Reservoir. Others who paid tributes included Zilla Parishad Chairperson T. Kavitha, legislators S. Sailajanatha, N. Neelavathi, Anantapur MP A. Venkatarami Reddy and others.
