Pulse Polio programme today

CHENNAI: The Pulse Polio programme will be conducted on January 6 and February 10 this year across the country.

Children below the age of five years will be administered polio drops in immunisation booths, set up in 40,399 public places all over the State.

The booths are located in Government hospitals, primary health centres, health sub-centres, noon meal centres and schools , according to a release. Transit booths have been set up in railway stations, bus stands, temples and tourist spots, while mobile teams will comb remote and inaccessible areas. About 70 lakh children will be administered polio drops on Sunday.

About two lakh personnel, including volunteers from voluntary organisations like Rotary, will be involved in the campaign. Private doctors have also been requested to keep their clinics open to administer oral polio vaccine to children.
