KOCHI: “The days of desperately trying to get seats during the peak months are over. Because, Jet Airways is coming. And we are going to treat you with respect,” Sudheer Raghavan, executive vice- president (commercial) of the airline, said here on Saturday. He was addressing a press conference announcing the airline’s foray into the Gulf on Saturday. Besides launching daily services from Kochi to Bahrain and Kuwait, the airline started operating services between Mumbai and Bahrain and Delhi and Kuwait. He said operations to the Gulf sector was permanent and not on an experimental basis. “We are here to stay. We are here to grow,” he said. He said that services to Muscat and Doha would be launched from Kozhikode on January 23. Kochi would be linked to Muscat the same day, taking the number of daily services from here to three. From Thiruvananthapuram, the Gulf sector services would be started anytime between April and June. “We are looking at Kerala as a springboard for further growth,” he said. Mr. Raghavan said Keralites who toiled hard in the Gulf deserved quality services for their sacrifices. “Jet Airways is committed to ensuring (them) quality and reliable service,” he said. Asked about the quality of infrastructure, he said Kochi airport had very good infrastructure, but had to keep abreast with the growth in the aviation sector. Thiruvananthapuram airport had to project itself for future growth. The crucial thing was that India had realised the importance of infrastructure development and was translating that realisation into action.
