New Rajasthan Chief Justice sworn in

The new Chief Justice of Rajasthan, Justice Narayan Roy, being sworn in by State Governor S.K. Singh at Raj Bhavan in Jaipur on Saturday.
JAIPUR: Justice Narayan Roy was sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court at a simple function in Raj Bhavan here on Saturday. He was earlier a Judge of the Patna High Court.
The acting Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, Justice Rajesh Balia, has been transferred to Patna.
Governor S.K. Singh administered the oath of office to Mr. Justice Roy after Chief Secretary D.C. Samant read out the Presidential warrant for his appointment. Mr. Justice Roy took the oath in English.
Among others, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Assembly Speaker Sumitra Singh, Judges of the High Court, Cabinet Ministers, chairpersons of various Commissions, lawyers, and Mr. Justice Roy’s wife, Saraswati Roy, and family members attended the swearing-in ceremony.
Mr. Justice Roy, born on February 1, 1947, began legal practice in the Patna High Court in 1972. He was appointed a permanent Judge of the Patna High Court in 1991.
