M.P. Govt dissolves Waqf Board
Bhopal: Faced with serious differences between the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Madhya Pradesh Government has dissolved the State Waqf Board with immediate effect.
“The State Government dissolved the prestigious Waqf Board for taking unlawful decisions in the Board’s August 11, 2007 meeting,” a senior official said on Saturday.
The government has also appointed Additional Collector, Betul, Masud Akthar as administrator of the Waqf Board.
In the August 11 meeting, Board’s chairman Alamgir Khan Gauri allegedly snatched administrative and financial power from the Board’s CEO S.M.H. Zaidi.
Mr. Gauri then started operating bank accounts, the official said, adding the State Government was informed about various allegedly unlawful decisions taken at the August 11 meeting as also about functioning of Mr. Gauri.
Taking into account all these developments, he said the State Government has issued show cause notices to Board chairman Mr. Gauri and members Mukthar Ahmed, Akthar Ali, Zafar Khan and Hamid Qazi and sought their replies for the decision taken at the meeting and later dissolved the Board.
