Asia MotorWorks mulls LCV foray

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) maker Asia MotorWorks (AMW) said here on Friday that it is mulling an entry into the country’s fast growing light commercial vehicle (LCV) market which is expected to grow to 2.32 lakh units in the current fiscal.

With its focus on indigenously-developed products, the company will showcase its 1.5 tonne to 3 tonne segment CVs at the upcoming auto expo next week.

“Though our focus will be on HCVs to complete our product portfolio we are also looking at entering the LCV market in India. Our LCV foray will require fresh investments and we are formalising a strategy to enter the segment,” AMW Managing Director and CEO, Anirudh Bhuwalka, told reporters here on the occasion of the launch of the new 31 tonne HCV priced at Rs. 17 lakh. He said the company would showcase its select LCV products in the auto expo and depending on the response, it would formalise a strategy for its foray into the segment. AMW was keen to enter the segment on its own.
