Raids on sand mining

BANGALORE: Officials from the departments of Revenue, Mines and Geology and the police on Thursday conducted joint raids at two illegal sand mining sites in Ramanagara district. According to the police, the raids were conducted at the Arkavathy river bed in Ramanagara Rural police station limits and near the Manchanabele reservoir in Tavarekere police station limits. Officials seized two lorries and an earthmover from the Arkavathy river bed and eight lorries from the other site. Separate cases have been registered. — Special Correspondent
