Government staff to get bonus

CHENNAI: The State Government on Saturday announced bonus for its employees and pensioners in the run-up to the Pongal festival.

According to an official release, Group C and D employees will get 30 days’ pay as bonus subject to a maximum of Rs. 2,500. Group A and B staff will get Rs. 1,000 as special bonus. The Government has increased the Pongal gift for pensioners and family pensioners from Rs. 150 to Rs. 300. Employees working in local bodies and government aided educational institutions are also eligible for bonus. Part-time employees, those working on consolidated pay, noon-meal and anganwadi workers, village assistants, those working on daily wage basis and non-standard time scale of pay and workers who had worked not less than 240 days in a financial year, will get a special bonus of Rs.1,000.
