HYDERABAD: ‘Encountered on Saffron Agenda’, a documentary film by a freelance journalist Shubhradeep Chakravorty, questioned the veracity of the official versions in the context of alleged encounters by the Gujarat Police between 2002 and 2004. The 1.5-hour film screened at Siasat office on Saturday is an attempt to investigate into four encounters by the arrested DIG D. G. Vanzara and his team, where all the killed were said to have been on a mission to assassinate the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. The documentary debunks all encounters as “fake” and aims to disprove the official versions by way of interviews with defence lawyers, family members of the killed, independent investigators and eye witnesses. It raises doubts over the encounter killings. Film maker Shubhradeep Chakravorty has plans to screen the film in colleges and universities besides distributing it among the civil society and action groups.
