Father’s former employee Abdul arrested Aroop went missing from park on Wednesday NEW DELHI: A five-year-old boy who was kidnapped from outside his house in Raghubir Nagar here three days ago was found dead on Saturday. The body of Aroop, son of an embroidery unit owner Shankar Mondal, was found stuffed inside a sack in a house in the same locality on Saturday afternoon. Shankar’s former employee Abdul has been arrested on charges of kidnapping and murder for ransom. Two of his alleged accomplices, Sonu and Arvind, are absconding. Abdul alias Azad, a resident of Faizabad, had worked at Shankar’s embroidery unit for a few weeks in December. Aroop, a kindergarten student in a private school, had gone missing from a Municipal Corporation of Delhi park near his house this past Wednesday. His parents looked for him in the neighbourhood and when they failed to trace the child the matter was reported to the police. A case of kidnapping was registered at the Rajouri Garden police station and the police carried out a search in neighbouring areas. Demand for ransomMeanwhile, Shankar received a call on his phone the same night demanding Rs.2 lakh as ransom for safe release of the boy. The call was made from a public booth in the Badarpur area. The victim’s family subsequently received several ransom calls made from different parts of the Capital. Tracing one such call, the police arrested Abdul on Saturday afternoon. During interrogation, the accused purportedly told the police that he nursed a grudge against Shankar as the latter had not paid him money for his treatment. He then hatched a plan to kidnap Aroop. On January 2, Abdul along with Sonu and Arvind kidnapped Aroop from a park near his house, took him to a rented accommodation in the same locality and strangled him.
