Trial advocacy competition

KOCHI: V. Giri, Kerala High Court judge, inaugurated the 3rd Surana & Surana National Trial Advocacy competition organised jointly by the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) and Surana & Surana International Attorneys, Chennai.

In his inaugural address, Justice Giri reminded the budding lawyers that legal profession was primarily a service to the community rather than a means of accumulating wealth. He said that experience in trial court was essential to make one a competent lawyer.

C. P. Sudhakara Prasad, Advocate General of Kerala, presided over the meeting. P.G. Thampi, Director General of Prosecutions and Chairman of Bar Council of Kerala, delivered the keynote address. Ravichandran of Surana & Surana International Attorneys, P. Leelakrishnan, Member, executive council of NUALS; and Lakshmi Rajagopal, secretary of Moot Court Society, spoke.
