Private participation for highway maintenance

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Government has decided to involve private parties in proper maintenance of the State highways hereafter.

Accordingly, tenders will be issued inviting parties to take up the maintenance of stretches of these roads for a period of five years each. The party selected will be held responsible if the highway is found deficient in traffic-worthiness.

Roads & Buildings Minister T. Jeevan Reddy disclosed this here on Saturday while launching the website of the newly formed AP Road Development Corporation for proper maintenance of the highways, www.aprdc.in

The site will provide information about all aspects of State highways.
