No large-scale eviction, says Kerala Minister

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs M. Vijayakumar has said that no large-scale evictions will be needed for providing land for the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) at Valiamala. He said the Revenue Department had done only a preliminary assessment and it had not reported that 1,500 families would have to be evicted. About 70 acres of private land would have to be acquired. If at all, any evictions would have to be undertaken, that would be only a few.
