VISAKHAPATNAM: India Blues wrapped up a 2.5-1.5 win over Afghanistan in the third round of the men’s league match in the Asian team chess championship at the Swarna Bharathi Indoor Stadium here on Saturday. For a team which comprised unrated players, Afghanistan’s Habibullah Fedaee surprised IM Sunil Mokal Prathamesh after Sharify Aziz held former Asian junior champion and India Blues captain J. Deepan Chakravarthy to a draw. But Neelotpal Das and Gogineni Rohit pulled off decisive wins to clinch the issue for their team. India Reds, led by Krishnan Sasikiran, scored a significant 3-1 win over Vietnam despite the captain held to a draw by Truong Son Nguyen Ngoc in the first result of the table.
