Suspected Hizb operative remanded

KOTTAYAM: Althaf Mohammed Khan (29), who was arrested at Kumily in Kerala on Saturday for suspected terrorist links, was produced before the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court at Nedumkandom on Sunday.
Althaf, who hails from Kashmir, was remanded to police custody. He has been charged under 41(1) A of the Cr.PC and also under 468 and 471 of the IPC for forgery.
Vinson M. Paul, Inspector-General of Police, Ernakulam Range, told The Hindu that the arrest of Althaf followed information given by the Kashmir police during verification of a passport application filed by him. According to the information received by the Kerala police, Althaf was an operative of the Hizb-ul Mujahideen.
