Pulse polio programme commences

Health watch: Sangareddy Municipal Chairperson B. Vijaya Lakshmi administering polio drops to a child.

Sangareddy: The polio drops programme in the district that began on Sunday would be continued for three more days to cover maximum number of children under five years of the age in the district. This was disclosed by the District medical and health officer Sarojini Reddy here today. The pulse programme officially began at the head quarter hospitals here through the hands of the Municipal Chairperson B.Vijaya Lakshmi. In all 3, 57, 150 children would receive the drops through 2313 centres spread across the district with the help of 9460 paramedical workers and volunteers.

Karimnagar Staff Reporter adds: Minister for Endowments J. Ratnakara Rao on Sunday launched the pulse polio immunisation programme by administering polio vaccine to the children at Naka cross roads in Karimnagar town.

Zilla Parishad chairman A. Mohan, Mayor D. Shankar, Collector M. V. Satyanarayana, KDCCB chairman K. Ravinder Rao, deputy Mayor Md. Sami, municipal commissioner Vijayraj and others were also present.

NTR memorial trust in collaboration with Dr SISA voluntary organisation also administered the polio vaccine to about 525 children at Mukarampura in the town. Adilabad Staff Reporter adds: Adilabad MLA C. Ramchander Reddy and Collector Ahmad Nadeem on Sunday administered polio drops to children at the Hamalaiwada and Khursheednagar urban health centres marking the inauguration of the three-day Pulse Polio campaign here. Polio drops will be administered to about 3 lakh children through the 3,150 booths set up for the purpose.
