Villagers nab member of robbers gang

BERHAMPUR: Villagers of Baunslundi village under Bhanjanagar police stationnabbed a member of a gang involved in several cases of burglary and robbery in the area on Saturday night.

According to police the gang was involved in more than 40 cases of burglaries and robberies in the last few months. It was suspected that the gang was involved in the armed robbery of a jewellery shop owner of Belaguntha.

Fve members of the gang had entered Baunsalundi to burgle three targeted houses in the village. The gang was successful in burgling two houses. But the residents of the third house could sense the activities of the burglars. They pounced upon the members of the gang, who had entered their house breaking open the backdoor of the house. Hearing the shouts of this family other villagers also reached the spot. They managed to nab one member of the gang.
