Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The Heritage Motoring Club of India (HMCI) will showcase the largest collection of vintage and classic automobiles at a week-long event at Pragati Maidan here.
“The Auto Expo Classic Parade” will offer motor car connoisseurs a chance to catch a glimpse of beauties that have had a glorious past, some dating back to 1910s and driven by maharajas, princes, industrialists and philanthropists. To kick-start “Auto Expo-2008”, over a 100 vintage and classic cars and 59 vintage and classic motorcycles and scooters will be flagged off from the Bhagwan Das Road residence of Maharaja Manujendra Shah of Tehri Garhwal and driven down to the exhibition ground at Pragati Maidan. On Wednesday, the HMCI’s Vintage and Classic Automobile Display will be inaugurated by Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar.
On January 14, the Club will organise a tour for underprivileged children from the SOS Children’s Village. Elderly folks from HelpAge India will get a chance to take a trip down memory lane at the Auto Expo on January 15.
