Staff Correspondent

They have been accused of not distributing kerosene to beneficiaries

DAVANGERE: Deputy Commissioner of Davangere district M.B. Dyaberi has instructed the officials of the Food and Civil Supplies Department to cancel the licences of fair price shops which failed to distribute kerosene to beneficiaries.

Chairing the public grievances meeting here on Saturday, Mr. Dyaberi said he had received a large number of complaints from the people regarding non-distribution of kerosene to ration card holders at many places.

He also directed the officials to inspect all places to ascertain the ground realities.

Regular supply

Mr. Dyaberi asked them to check whether the dealers of Indane, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat were getting the required quantity of cooking gas and whether they were supplying Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders properly to their customers. He also said he had received complaints from people that LPG cylinders were not supplied to them even after a month of the date of booking.

He said the Governor had forwarded many petitions to the district administration directing immediate action. He said they had been sent to the respective departments for redressal.

Financial help

A sum of Rs.7,500 was collected by officers at the meeting to meet the surgical expenses of a physically challenged woman, who had approached the Deputy Commissioner seeking financial assistance. Mr. Dyaberi instructed officials, who had been assigned election duty, not to go on leave till election work was completed.

Stringent action

He said stringent action would be taken against those neglecting such work.

Headquarters assistant to the Deputy Commissioner Bettasurmutt and Assistant Commissioners Latha Kumari and Janaki were present.
