ESI offers an amnesty scheme

To withdraw cases against insured persons and employers on fulfilment of certain conditions.


TIRUCHI: The Employees State Insurance (ESI) Corporation has decided to withdraw cases filed under Sec.84 and 85 of the ESI Act 1948 against insured persons and employers on fulfilment of certain conditions.

The withdrawal of the cases, under an amnesty scheme, would be applicable for cases filed up to December 31 2007.

Refund excess amount

As per the scheme, insured persons have been advised to refund the excess amount drawn by way of wrong declaration to the Corporation. They are also required to furnish an undertaking stating that they would not file a wrong declaration again.

Defaulting employers, who are facing criminal cases, have been advised to pay the contributions (both employers’ and employees’ shares) in full along with interest and damages.

Undertaking

They are also required to furnish an undertaking stating that they would be regular in making the payments in future.

Those willing to avail the amnesty scheme have been advised to contact the Joint Director, ESI Corporation, Sub Regional Office, Theethamalai Vaniga Valagam, Three Roads, Salem 636-009, the Joint Director (in-charge), ESI, Janardhanrao, said in a press release.
