A photo exhibition showcasing a philosopher’s life

TELLING DISPLAY: Visitors view the photo exhibition at Krishnamurti Foundation India in Chennai on Saturday.

Chennai: Krishnamurti Foundation India’s (KFI) lush green campus welcomed visitors on Saturday with a special treat of a photo exhibition, video screenings and book sale.The photo exhibition showcased some rare photographs from KFI’s archival collection, including a close-up of philosopher J. Krishnamurti as a child sitting at his mother’s feet. Quotes from JK’s prolific writings and talks intersperse the black-and-white photographs.

KFI Secretary S.P. Kandaswamy said: “This open house is especially for the new generation … Krishnamurti’s teachings open up for investigation every aspect of human life and are relevant to all times.”Books on Krishnamurti’s life and teachings have been displayed in an outdoor stall. DVDs, VCDs and audio CDs are also available at a discount. ‘Think on these Things’ is a new book title being offered at a subsidised price of Rs.50 and the famous Brockwood Park 1983 talks are available as CDs at Rs.150 per set. A recently released MP3 titled ‘What is life all about’ containing a series of five lectures that JK gave in 1968 is on sale. Provisions have been made for individuals to view thematic video clippings, of about 10 minutes duration each, in which JK explores various aspects of life. The open house will also be offered on Sunday (9.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m.). KFI is located on 124, Greenways Road, R.A. Puram. Screenings of the documentary ‘The seer who walks alone’ will begin at 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
