Rural energy project planned

THANJAVUR: Integrated rural energy programme will be implemented at Kurunkulam Panchayat in Thanjavur Panchayat Union, and Thirumangalaottai in Orathanadu Panchayat Union in Thanjavur district according to the Collector, C. Vijayaraj Kumar.

He said that Tamil Nadu Power Corporation has set a target of installing 25 solar street lights in the district. A sum of Rs.9600 will be given as subsidy for each lamp.

Block Development officers can provide the list of panchayats where these lamps can be installed. The work should be completed before January 31, 2008. The corporation had also set a target of fixing 61 solar energy lamps in houses. Subsidy of Rs.2,500 will be provided.

Project Officer, DRDA, K. Sumathi, General Manager, District Industries Centre, Kandasamy, Lead district manager, Vetriselvan participated in the meeting.
