He is accused of abusing his subordinate Several outfits say it is an attempt to settle old feud ELURU: The case registered against N. Suryachandra Rao, Regional Manager, APSRTC, under the Andhra Pradesh SC and ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act for allegedly abusing his subordinate employee by caste took a curious twist with various Dalit outfits backing the accused person. It may be recalled that Suryachandra Rao was alleged to have abused Chintalapudi Depot Controller by caste during his recent visit and the issue caught the attention of AP SC and ST Commission with the “victim” bringing to the commission’s notice the allegedly dilly-dallying by the police in registering a case. In this backdrop, the APSRTC SC and ST Welfare Association and the Dalit Sena held separate media conferences here to defend Suryachandra Rao. They stated that the complaint was false and intended to help certain “vested interests” within the RTC to settle old feuds with the official. Jangareddygudem DSP Basavapurnaiah told The Hindu on Sunday that he registered a case against the Regional Manager following a direction from the Andhra Pradesh SC and ST Commission Chairman M. Nagarjuna. “We conformed to the SC and ST Commission direction by registering a case against the RTC official. We will consider the arrest of the accused person basing on the outcome of investigation,” the DSP said. Interestingly, National Mazdoor Union zonal secretary R.S.P.V. Prasad produced the alleged victim of atrocity at a media conference the other day and pressed his demand for the arrest of the Regional Manager.
