Saurashtra in final

Srivilliputtur: Sinha Amrit’s 85 helped Saurashtra (Rajkot) defeat Annamalai by 34 runs and enter the final of the all India inter-university Twenty20 cricket tournament at Krishnan Koil on Sunday.

The scores: Semifinals: Saurashtra 169 for eight in 20 overs (Sinha Amrit 85, P. Sasikumar three for 36, V. Arun Kumar two for 22) bt Annamalai 135 in 16.4 overs (T. Manikandan 25, Sharma Kuldip three for 40, Vasoya Visal two for 19, Jadeja Balkrishna two for 17).

Pondicherry 113 in 18.3 overs (Sri Renganathan 25, A. Fahad two for 12, Vishak Chandran two for 13, Mohamed Riyas two for 17) lost to Calicut 114 for seven in 16 overs (V. Prabu two for 12).

Rajesh’s efforts in vain

A century by D. Rajesh Kumar (101) went in vain, as his team Sam Babu XI, Kodaikanal lost to APCC, Pillayar Natham narrowly by one wicket in the Canara Bank-DDCA first division league at Dindigul on Sunday.

The scores (First division): Sam Babu XI 209 for nine in 45 overs (D. Rajesh Kumar 101, B. Bala Ganesh 40) lost to APCC, Pillayar Natham 210 for nine in 44.3 overs (Muthusaravanan 93, P. Rajamohan three for 29).

Second Division: PSNA College 155 for six in 29 overs (A. Titu 51, Christian Amirtharaj 65 not out) bt All Rounders CC 122 in 23.4 overs (Mayan Singh seven for 27).

IOB CC posts win

Indian Overseas Bank Cricket Club carved out a four-wicket victory over Double Star CC in the Tirunelveli DCA first division league at Sankarnagar on Sunday.

The scores (First division): Double Star CC 190 for nine in 36 overs (Vijaya Raja 71) lost to IOB CC 192 for six in 33.2 overs (Sankar Guru 54, Arun Kumar 37 n.o.). Second Division: Seven Star CC 92 for nine in 20 overs (Yoganathan 37) lost to Wings CC 93 for eight in 18 overs (Selvam four for 19).

Sathyabama wins

Sathyabama, with an all-win record, clinched the title at the end of the semi-final league in the South Zone inter-university basketball tournament in Pudukottai on Sunday.

Kerala, with two wins, finished second, while Madras secured the third spot with a solitary victory.
