BANGALORE: The future of the present generation depends largely on education and social awareness, and only their mothers can give them the right education. This was the view expressed by those who attended the programme held to mark the 150th death anniversary of Jhansi Rani Lakshmi Bai here. The programme was organised by the Mahila Morcha of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday. Delivering the keynote address on “The role of mothers in independent India”, Chakravarthy Soolibele of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh said mothers should be role models for their children and give them social education that has high values. Owing to social pressures society was not giving adequate emotional support and value-based guidance to children, he said and called on people, especially women, to overcome pressures of life and guide their children to the right path. Vimala Gowda, MLC, said society should refrain from sidelining women.
