Andhra Pradesh
While travelling from New Delhi to Hyderabad in A.P. Express (Train No. 2724) a theft occurred in AH-1 bogie of II A.C. during the intervening night of 26-12-2007 and 27-12-2007 between Bhopal and Itarsi railway stations. A bag containing jewellery worth Rs. 2 lakhs ,Rs. 1600 cash, credit cards of ICICI Bank Ltd with Mastercard No: 5240980000008187, Pan Card No: AAXPW0301K, Debit card, Service ID Card, Nokia 2626 phone containing SIM card of Aircel No.9858336432 and some miscellaneous items was stolen. I lodged FIR in the train and RPF personnel came to enquire. I wanted them to search the compartment as it was AC and was more secure. But they did not undertake any search operation but instead gave a wireless message to Nagpur police who made some inquiries in Nagpur station and later told me to check the status of the case at the Hyderabad Railway station. I was disappointed with RPF and the police for not taking any action to my satisfaction. They gave lame excuse that elite class travel by AC and hence cannot take up search operations. Fayaz Ahmed, New Mallapally Pat for ATACongrats to ATA for organising a festival at Nellore and also for its willingness to adopt some villages of Andhra Pradesh. However it is deplorable that neither the administration nor cultural organisations and social service bodies have thought of organising Nellore ‘Utsav” (Simhapuri Festival) showcasing all-round development of the district or collecting and compiling books on the political, cultural and other aspects relating to the district. Kakuturu Nagaraja Rao, Yousufguda checkpost Parking of school busesThe road in front of the MCH Sports Complex in Red Hills towards the station has become a parking place for school buses, though the schools are located in far off places like Banjara Hills, Somajiguda and Jubilee Hills. Even a school located somewhere in Secunderabad RTC colony also parks its bus here. The road has become narrow with parked buses taking a chunk of the road. These apart the dustbins too are placed on the road which often overflows with garbage, with foul smell emanating from the bins. Why cannot the GHMC tow away these vehicles? Ravi Kumar, Bazar Ghat Transcending barriersIt was quite heartening to note that a 12-year-old Muslim of Gudur village in Andhra Pradesh won a prize in a State-level competition recently for reciting slokas from the Bhagavad Gita. Her effort won accolades and drew appreciation from all the right thinking individuals. Her resolve to learn Bible and Quran in similar fashion should serve as an eye-opener to all divisive forces.
