One Medical college each in 10 Telangana districts sought Wants headquarters for all decentralised universities in Hyderabad Sangareddy: Telangana Rastra Samithi opposed the State government’s move to trifurcate the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University into West, South and East branches, demanding withdrawal of such a decision. Addressing a press conference here, Siddipet legislator T. Harish Rao said that if the government decides to go ahead with its decision then it has to trifurcate the NTR Health University and Padmavathi Mahila University too. He further said that TRS would ask the government to set up the headquarters of all the decentralised universities in Hyderabad itself. He termed the announcement as another anti-Telangana decision of the Chief Minister. Attributing the shortage of medical practitioners in all the primary health centres in Telangana region to shortage of medical seats in the region, Harish Rao demanded one medical college each in all the ten districts. He said that if the government wants to set up medical colleges in Srikakulam and Ongole then it has to do so in Adilabad, Medak and Karimnagar too. Similarly, if Rayalaseema which has only four districts could have one IIIT, then the ten districts in Telangana should have at least three IIITs. “If the JNTU has to be decentralised for administrative convenience why not agree for separate statehood to Telangana on similar grounds,” he questioned. Criticising Minister for Roads & Buildings T. Jeevan Reddy for backing the Chief Minister in Chegondi Harirama Jogaiah issue, Harish Rao said that this very Minister had taken TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao along with him to file his nominations and later lost elections in Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency.
