Staff Reporter

TIRUPUR: Tirupur Corporation and Health Department officials, joining hands with service organisations, have administered polio vaccine to as many as 48,261 children across the city.

Mayor K. Selvaraj inaugurated the drive by administering vaccine at T.S.K. Hospital on Avanashi Road. Officials said that 48,261 children were immunised at 79 booths including five at railway station, old and new bus stands.

Besides, two mobile units were also pressed into service.

A door-to-door campaign would be carried out to administer the vaccine on Monday and Tuesday for those who missed it, he added.
