‘Take steps to issue community certificates’
Staff Reporter
Krishnagiri: School students of Adiyan community in Boganapalli urged the district administration to take steps to issue community certificates immediately.
Members of the community claimed that revenue officials were refusing to issue community certificates to school students of community classified as Schedule Tribe.
As a result they were unable to pursue their higher education.
They said their relatives in Villupuram district were issued with the certificates. With majority of the members’ daily wage earners the certificates were essential for the children to pursue higher education.
Students complain that due to the delay their future was at stake.
Because of this problem they could not gain entry into good courses and as well as employment.
The community certificates which are sent for verification by the educational institutions concerned and government departments are rejected by the authorities on one pretext or the other.
No efforts taken
Even if the required details are provided the community certificates fail to come forth. Despite repeated representations to the Tahsildar and Revenue Divisional Officer, officials here had not taken efforts to issue the community certificates, they added. The students submitted a petition to the Collector in this connection.
