Traffic hit as students block road

NAMAKKAL: Students of Arignar Anna Government Arts College blocked the traffic on Mohanur Road here on Monday protesting against the arrest of a student for his alleged involvement in a theft case. The windscreen of a bus was damaged as stones were pelted during the protest.
Police sources said a third year student of the college, who was working as a part-time employee in a mobile phone showroom here, was arrested on charges of stealing cell phones and re-charge coupons worth Rs. 8,000 based on a complaint from the shop owner.
Rally taken
Students took out a massive rally here on Monday to spread awareness on road safety. Collector G. Sundaramurthi flagged off the rally at the Namakkal Boys GHSS.
